Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Russia’s statements claiming that the UK and France allegedly plan to deliver nuclear weapons to Ukraine. He called these claims political pressure and emphasized that Ukraine does not possess nuclear weapons.

Zelenskyy made the remarks during a meeting with journalists, reports Suspilne.
Details
The president explained that Russia regularly uses the nuclear weapons issue as a tool for political and informational pressure, especially when it suffers setbacks on the front lines.
He noted that the international community knows all circumstances of Ukraine’s disarmament:
“Usually, when Russia fails to win on the battlefield, they start looking for nuclear weapons in Ukraine’s territory. This is political pressure. I would very much like other nuclear states, first and foremost the US, to respond to this.”
Context
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service claimed that the UK and France allegedly plan to deliver nuclear weapons to Ukraine, disguised as Ukrainian developments.
The UK government denied these claims. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesperson called them an attempt by Vladimir Putin to distract from the war against Ukraine.
The claims arise amid broader discussions on nuclear security in Europe. Bloomberg reports that European countries are discussing their own nuclear deterrence mechanisms due to doubts about long-term security guarantees from the US. At the Munich Security Conference, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz confirmed that consultations continue, but all actions will remain within NATO’s international obligations.
Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev once again issued nuclear threats to Ukraine and Europe in response to Russian intelligence claims about alleged plans by Ukraine’s partners to provide it with nuclear weapons.
