US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held a meeting with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi in Geneva. Oman serves as the primary mediator in the ongoing negotiations regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. Washington remains firm on the total cessation of uranium enrichment and demands indefinite restrictions to prevent a large-scale military conflict.

Axios reported this development, citing American officials. During the three-hour meeting, the US side demanded that Tehran surrender its entire 10,000-kilogram stockpile of enriched uranium. Donald Trump’s administration seeks a treaty without “sunset clauses” to permanently block Iran’s path to developing a nuclear weapon.
The Iranian delegation submitted its draft proposal through Omani diplomats. Tehran is reportedly willing to reduce uranium enrichment levels to 3.6%. In exchange, the Islamic Republic offers the US a “commercial bonanza” involving investments in oil, gas, and mineral extraction. Financial Times noted that these proposals are specifically tailored to Trump’s business interests to de-escalate tensions.
Current Negotiation Status
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted the threat posed by Iran’s ballistic missile program. Washington also demands an end to the funding of Hezbollah and Houthi proxies, though Iran refuses to discuss regional security issues. US military forces in the region, including two carrier strike groups, are currently on high alert.
President Trump established a deadline for a final decision by March 7. A failure in Geneva would significantly increase the risk of military confrontation. Presidential advisors are discussing a scenario where Israel strikes first, which would provide the US with greater justification for further military action.
Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that Donald Trump threatened strikes on Iran regarding its nuclear activities. Tehran responded by preparing its infrastructure for potential aerial confrontations with the US and Israel.
