Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko described the United States policy as a “real dictatorship” while signing a decree to conscript reserve officers. These events occur as Ukrainian intelligence reports the expansion of military infrastructure near the Ukrainian border. The self-proclaimed leader claims that Belarus is “preparing for war” to ensure national security. Meanwhile, official Minsk continues to support the Kremlin’s military aggression against Ukraine.

Belarusian mass media reported that Lukashenko criticized Western standards of human rights during an interview with the Russian propaganda channel RT.
He argued that Washington uses democratic slogans solely to control global energy resources. Specifically, the politician mentioned US and Israeli military actions in the Middle East as evidence of the aggressive nature of American foreign policy.
Dictator’s views on democracy
Lukashenko expressed his conviction that the United States has no right to teach other nations about political standards.
“All this is just talk. Your policy in Venezuela, threats to Cuba, the war in the Middle East, and other things show that you are real dictators. You are not democrats at all,” he stated.
Furthermore, the self-proclaimed leader suggested that the West should instead study the experience of Minsk.
“You will have to learn democracy from us. We have a hundred times more of this democracy than you do. Real democracy, real human rights… What human rights can you discuss if you kill people? If you killed a person, what rights does he have? He is dead,” the dictator emphasized.
Military mobilization of officers
In addition to his political rhetoric, Lukashenko signed Decree No. 132 on the conscription of reserve officers for 2026. The document targets men under the age of 27 who hold officer ranks but have not completed active military service. The Belarusian authorities describe these measures as “planned” activities. The primary goal is to increase the occupancy of primary military positions and prepare the mobilization reserve. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned about Russia’s attempts to drag Belarus deeper into the conflict. Intelligence data shows that Russian forces are building roads and establishing artillery positions near the Ukrainian border.
Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that Russia looks for an opportunity for direct conflict with NATO.
