Vasyl Malyuk has announced his resignation as head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), according to the SBU press service.
According to him, he will remain within the SBU system, focusing on carrying out asymmetric special operations aimed at causing maximum damage to Russia.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he met with Malyuk, thanked him for his work, and suggested that he focus on operational and combat tasks moving forward. According to the president, Ukraine must strengthen its asymmetric operations against Russia, and Malyuk will continue to work on this within the SBU.
Who Will Lead the SBU
Yevhen Khmara, head of the SBU Special Operations Center “A,” will temporarily serve as acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. This was reported by presidential communications advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.

President Zelenskyy held a separate meeting with Khmara, during which they discussed the development of the SBU, scaling the expertise of Ukrainian special forces, and preparing new special operations. According to the president, the approaches developed by the Special Operations Center “A” will be expanded across the entire SBU system.
In accordance with the law, the head of the SBU is appointed and dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada upon the president’s recommendation.
Other Personnel Changes

In addition to changes within the SBU, the president announced personnel updates in the Presidential Office. Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.

Zelenskyy also met with former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, during which they discussed the international and informational situation surrounding Ukraine and potential areas for further cooperation.

Furthermore, former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland was appointed as the president’s non-staff advisor on economic development. According to Zelenskyy, her expertise will be used to strengthen Ukraine’s economic resilience, support the country’s recovery, and enhance defense capabilities.
