President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed sharing Ukraine’s unique experience in intercepting Iranian drones with Middle Eastern nations. This cooperation depends on regional leaders persuading Vladimir Putin to agree to a temporary ceasefire in the war against Ukraine. Kyiv is ready to deploy its top specialists to help protect civilians in countries facing similar aerial threats.

Bloomberg reported these developments following a phone interview with the Ukrainian leader. Zelenskyy emphasized that four years of Russia’s full-scale invasion allowed Kyiv to master the interception of Shahed drones. These same weapons now target countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
“I would suggest the following: leaders of the Middle East have great relations with the Russians. They can ask Russians to implement a month-long ceasefire,” Zelenskyy stated.
Security cooperation and regional context
The President clarified that once a truce begins, Ukraine will provide technical support to its partners. “We will send our best operators of drone interceptors to the Middle East countries,” he explained. Zelenskyy noted that a ceasefire lasting from two weeks to two months would allow both regions to focus on civilian protection.
This offer follows a significant escalation in the Middle East. Last weekend, Iranian drone and missile barrages targeted Dubai and other major cities. Tehran launched these strikes after US and Israeli military actions killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials.
Russia has consistently rejected ceasefire calls from Washington, including those from President Donald Trump. However, Zelenskyy believes the Gulf states possess unique economic leverage over the Kremlin.
“For sure, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar have good relations, first of all economic, with Putin. We can help Israel in the same way,” the President added.
