Zelenskyy met with Macron: they discussed the defense package and training of the Armed Forces

On the sidelines of the NATO summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Radiosvoboda reports.

On the sidelines of the NATO summit, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, we discussed the implementation of the decisions of the Peace Summit, as well as the preparation of the next defense package, security cooperation and training of our military, – the Ukrainian leader said after the talks.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that he “expressed gratitude to President Macron and the French people for their principled and unwavering support”.

In Washington, 24 leaders of NATO member states and Ukraine approved the Ukraine Compact, which is part of a commitment to Ukraine’s long-term security. Among other things, the signatories pledged to meet “quickly and collectively” at the highest level to agree on steps to support Ukraine in the event of a possible future attack after the current hostilities end.

In addition, U.S. President Joe Biden said that the Ukraine Compact unites more than 20 countries “in a unified, coordinated, and comprehensive architecture” to support Ukraine not only now but for years to come. According to him, this treaty is “the central part of the bridge” on Ukraine’s path to NATO.

The NATO summit was held in Washington on July 9-11. Deterring Russia’s aggression and supporting Ukraine were among the main issues on the agenda.
