US President Joe Biden confused his allies on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. He accidentally called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Putin and Vice President Kamala Harris Donald Trump, Babel writes.
The first confusion occurred at a ceremony with NATO leaders. Biden, introducing the president of Ukraine, called him Putin, but quickly corrected himself.
Now I want to turn the floor over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he does determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin, – Biden said, then added: President Putin? He [Zelenskyy] will defeat President Putin. I am so focused on defeating President Putin that we have to worry about that.
Then the second confusion occurred 1.5 hours later, during Biden’s conversation with journalists, Bloomberg writes. Then the US leader was asked if he was ready to give way to his vice president Kamala Harris in the election race.
I would not have chosen Vice President Trump to be vice president if I did not think she was qualified to be president, – Biden replied.
His rival in the presidential election, Donald Trump, almost immediately wrote on his social network Truth Social: “Good job, Joe!”.
In front of journalists, Joe Biden called himself the most qualified candidate for re-election as president and the only one who can defeat Trump.
I believe I am the most qualified person to lead and the most qualified to win, – he said.
This press conference was called the most important in Biden’s career and a key one for his campaign by the American media after his unsuccessful performance in the debate with Donald Trump.
Almost immediately after the press conference, more Democrats called on Biden not to run for office, including three members of the House of Representatives. According to The Hill, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is already putting pressure on Biden privately. She is asking Democrats not to nominate Biden as the party’s candidate.
