Canada is allocating 389 million Canadian dollars ($285 million at the current exchange rate) to train Ukrainian military pilots and maintain F-16 fighter jets.
This is reported on the website of the Office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Babel reports.
The allocated funds will be used to support the training of pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to provide critical equipment for the safe operation of F-16 fighters.
The funds provided by Canada will be a multi-year contribution to the Air Force Capabilities Coalition for five years.
Prime Minister Justin’s office also reminded the audience of the additional 500 million Canadian dollars ($354 million) in military assistance to Ukraine announced earlier at the NATO summit as part of NATO’s long-term security assistance pledge.
This includes almost 444 million Canadian dollars ($314 million) to National Defence Canada to cover the cost of military equipment, assistance and training for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as more than 56 million Canadian dollars ($39.6 million) for the NATO Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) trust fund for Ukraine to help rebuild Ukraine’s security and defense sector and facilitate Ukraine’s transition to full interoperability with NATO.
