Kyiv was not going to promote the idea voiced by French President Emmanuel Macron at the beginning of the year of sending French soldiers to Ukraine. This is dangerous and could negatively affect all other support from partners.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the media of Northern Europe, Suspilne reports.
The president was asked whether sending North Korean soldiers to Russia increases the chances of sending European troops to Ukraine, as Macron said a few months ago.
I know that everyone is skeptical and very cautious about this. We never pushed this idea and never talked about it in detail. I mean, it’s very dangerous when you don’t have this decision from leaders, from society, etc. It’s very dangerous to actually address this topic, because you can lose all the other support (…) that we already have, – Zelenskyy answered a question from the Icelandic National Broadcasting Company.
In addition, he emphasized that the desire for European troops to come to Ukraine cannot be a fair expression of public will on the part of Ukraine. Kyiv cannot risk losing all other support.
