President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President-elect Donald Trump had a “great” phone conversation on the evening of November 6. This conversation shows that both sides value the strategic partnership, Suspilne reports.
This was stated at a briefing by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhii Tykhyi.
According to him, the leaders of the countries had a “wonderful phone conversation last night.” It was short, Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his victory, and the presidents discussed “general things about the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership.”
The fact that they spoke on the very first day after President Trump won the election speaks for itself. It proves that both sides value the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership, – Tykhyi emphasized.
He added that Zelenskyy and Trump have a “long-standing, result-oriented dialog.” Tymoshenko emphasized that the Foreign Ministry maintains close contact with Trump’s team and entourage and with both US parties.
We believe that it is in America’s interest to ensure a fair, just end to the war and a just peace in Ukraine, and in the interests of both sides. This is not a Democratic or Republican interest, but an American interest, – Tykhyi said.
A Wall Street Journal journalist asked the Foreign Ministry spokesperson about a peace plan allegedly being prepared by the Trump administration, one of the points of which is “a potential freeze on the battlefield”.
We do not see the point and value in discussing things that are disseminated in the media and are not official positions or proposals. These are just someone’s opinions that are disseminated in the media. We see no reason to give them more weight and seriousness than they have, – Tykhyi said when asked if this option could be considered by the Ukrainian government.
What is known about the 2024 US elections
