Another country has signed the Communiqué of the Peace Summit in Switzerland. The South African country of Zambia joined the communiqué and became the 79th signatory state.

This became known from the list on the Swiss government’s website, Hromadske reports.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Zambia’s accession to the Communiqué by thanking the country for “supporting efforts to achieve sustainable, comprehensive and just peace.”

“We appreciate the growing support for the Peace Summit and its final Communiqué from all continents, including Africa. We appreciate that Zambia, together with other African countries, takes a clear position in favor of the UN Charter, peace and progress”, — the head of state said.

Zelenskyy also called on all “peace-loving countries” to join the communiqué and the implementation of the “Peace Formula”.

“Together we can restore peace, stable development and mutual respect in international relations”, — he added.

Earlier, the communiqué was also supported by the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, which was not present at the Peace Summit in Switzerland, as well as the Organization of American States, which includes 34 countries from both Americas.

It also became known that Iraq and Jordan disappeared from the list of 80 countries whose accession to the communiqué was mentioned in the first reports from the summit. Rwanda also withdrew its signature from the joint communiqué of the Global Peace Summit.

The total number of signatories now stands at 79 countries and 6 organizations.
