WSJ: US “unimpressed” with Ukraine’s victory plan

26.09.2024

The administration of US President Joe Biden is concerned about the lack of a comprehensive strategy for winning the war with Russia in Ukraine’s victory plan, which focuses on arming and lifting restrictions on long-range strikes against Russia.

The Wall Street Journal writes about this, citing sources, Babel reports.

I’m not impressed, there’s not much new there, – said one of the officials.

In general, Washington hoped to see something tangible in the plan that the Biden administration could support, remaining in power for only four more months.

The Victory Plan broadly covers Ukraine’s needs on the frontline, political reforms at home, and the economy. The most elaborate part of it is the arms-related requests, while the other parts are less specific.

It is important to note that American officials have not seen the full victory plan. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will present it later at a meeting with Joe Biden.

WSJ interlocutors said that Zelenskyy is making a maximalist offer in the hope that Washington will give Kyiv everything it asks for.

At the same time, US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for refusing to sign a deal with Russia and allegedly slandering Trump.
