Germany and Ukraine are deepening their defense cooperation by launching the Brave Germany program to produce drones with a range of up to 1,500 kilometers. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the initiative during an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Monday, May 11. The partnership focuses on developing innovative startups and joint defense ventures to create weaponry capable of striking deep behind enemy lines.

Suspilne reported that Berlin intends to expand its support for the Ukrainian defense sector through this new platform.
The initiative allows developers to receive financial backing and test emerging technologies in real combat conditions. Furthermore, Germany will formally join the Brave1 defense cluster to streamline military innovation. Boris Pistorius emphasized that long-range systems are vital for suppressing Russian air defenses and protecting military infrastructure during a full-scale war.
Technological Exchange and Strategic Production
According to the Minister, German and Ukrainian companies are already working on drone projects with various ranges. These include tactical systems under 100 kilometers and strategic platforms reaching 1,500 kilometers.
“This is an opportunity that we are also working very intensively on within NATO,” Pistorius stated.
Berlin also aims to study the Ukrainian DELTA battle management system and the practical combat experience gained by Ukrainian forces.
Patriot Missile Supplies and Anti-Drone Solutions
Additionally, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa discussed accelerating Patriot missile deliveries with an RTX corporation delegation. He reported on Facebook that the talks focused on repairing damaged systems and maintaining components within Ukraine. The meeting also addressed the development of more affordable missiles to intercept UAVs. Additionally, the parties discussed new technological solutions for countering enemy drones.
