US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to the Iranian leadership, demanding the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The American leader warned of massive strikes against the country’s infrastructure if the blockade continues. Amid the global energy crisis, Ukraine’s allies have requested Kyiv to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Donald Trump reported this in a post on Truth Social, using extremely harsh rhetoric against the Iranian regime. The US President set a 48-hour deadline for opening the strategic maritime route. He emphasized that failure to comply would destroy key facilities in Iran.
“Tuesday in Iran will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, all at the same time. Nothing like it will ever happen again! Open that damn Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell,” Trump’s post reads.
The conflict in the Gulf is entering its sixth week and triggering a sharp rise in global fuel prices.
Impact on the energy market
The conflict in the Persian Gulf directly affects Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Due to the oil shortage, foreign allies have signaled to Kyiv to pause regular airstrikes on Russian oil refineries. Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, told Bloomberg about these requests in a recent interview. He noted that Ukraine receives certain signals from partners. Drone strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure add pressure to a market already suffering from Iran’s actions.
The Strait of Hormuz remains the world’s primary trade artery. Meanwhile, Budanov expressed cautious optimism that the Gulf conflict might end soon.
Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that Ukrainian forces successfully struck a strategic Russian refinery and oil port.
