The United States has conducted a survey among Americans, according to which the first ratings of presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were released, Espreso reports.
Bloomberg writes about this with reference to the Morning Consult poll.
According to the Morning Consult poll, conducted on Sunday after Biden withdrew his candidacy, Trump is supported by 47% of US citizens, while Harris is supported by 45%.
At the same time, a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that Harris is ahead of Trump with 44% to 42%. It is emphasized that the difference is within the statistical error of 3 percentage points.
Bloomberg notes that earlier polls on Harris’s possible participation in the election against Trump showed that the US vice president was several percents behind the former White House chief of staff. However, the statistics began to change after the Trump-Biden debate.
The Reuters news agency reported that 56% of American voters believe that: Harris “has a sharp mind and is able to handle challenges”. This opinion is shared by 49% of respondents about Trump, while 22% about Biden.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted on July 22-23, after the Republican National Convention, when Trump was officially nominated as the presidential candidate, and after Biden withdrew from the campaign.
