The victory plan that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to present to United States President Joe Biden will “rapidly strengthen” Ukraine, which will force Putin to the negotiating table.
Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the New Yorker, Suspilne reports.
He emphasized that after the first peace summit, the partners saw that Russia was not ready for any negotiations, but were convinced that Russia would take part in the second Peace Summit.
Well, now we have a second summit scheduled, and it seems they won’t come, – Zelenskyy said.
He said he was convinced that the partners’ commitments under the victory plan would quickly “strengthen” Ukraine, and that a strong Ukraine would force Kremlin leader Putin to the negotiating table.
It’s just that I used to just say it, but now I put it on paper with specific arguments and concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine in October, November and December, and to bring the war to a diplomatic end. If he (Putin – ed.) is not ready to end this war in a fair way and justly, continuing to pursue this goal will also significantly weaken Russia, which will threaten Putin’s own position, – the Ukrainian president emphasized.
When asked if Biden would say “no” to the victory plan, Zelenskyy replied:
This is a terrible thought. It would mean that Biden does not want to end the war in any way that denies Russia’s victory. And we would end up with a very long war – an impossible, exhausting situation that would kill a huge number of people. Having said that, I can’t blame Biden for anything, – Zelenskyy emphasized.
Zelenskyy recently shared details of his victory plan. Ukraine’s victory plan contains five points, which, in particular, relate to military and economic support for Ukraine.
It also became known that this week, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the United States, where, among other things, he will address the UN General Assembly and meet with US President Joe Biden to present him with a victory plan.
