Ukraine will receive Western air defense systems, including the American Patriot, in the coming months. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Radiosvoboda reports.
According to his press service, during a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities from Rivne region on July 30, Zelenskyy stressed that the priority is to ensure the protection of industrial and economic centers with a sufficient number of air defense systems.
Thanks to our work and partners, we are increasing the number of Petriots and other systems. Therefore, we will continue to work in this direction. And in August, September and October, we will have the appropriate systems in our country, – the president said.
Earlier this month, Zelenskyy said that Patriot systems are not the only ones needed for Ukraine’s air defense, but they form its foundation. According to the head of state, the Ukrainian military believes that 25 systems are needed to completely cover Ukraine’s skies.
I can’t tell you how many we have or will have, – Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, the head of state called the decision at the NATO summit, where partners agreed to provide Ukraine with five Patriots, “very serious”.
