Harris leads Trump in five of seven key states

US Vice President Kamala Harris is ahead of former President Donald Trump in five of the seven key states in the presidential election race, Babel writes.

According to a Cook Political Report Swing State Project poll, Harris is ahead of Trump in Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

In Georgia, the vote was evenly divided. The only state where Trump still holds a slight lead is Nevada, although Harris has narrowed her lead by six points since May.

Overall, in these states, 48% of voters are ready to vote for Harris and 47% for Trump (if they choose only one of the two candidates). Another 5% of voters are undecided.

Data from the Cook Political Report Swing State Project survey.

The pollsters noted that Harris has narrowed the gap with Trump since their last poll in May, when the Republican was ahead of President Joe Biden by three points and ahead or tied with him in each of the seven swing states.

The pollsters attribute this increase in support for the Democrat to the consolidation of the Democratic base and growing support among independent voters.
