European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has presented a new EU plan to combat illegal migration. The changes will affect Ukrainians, Suspilne reports.

According to the Polish radio station RMF FM, journalists managed to find out that the plan has 10 points. Thus, Ursula von der Leyen said that it is necessary to consider the possibility of organizing centers for migrants who are not eligible for asylum outside the European Union.

It is noted that this is the first time that the European Commission has responded positively to a proposal supported, in particular, by Poland. Italy is already organizing such centers in Albania.

The President of the European Commission also announced new rules that will make the return of migrants who are not eligible for asylum to their countries of origin more efficient.

According to Ursula von der Leyen, one of the priorities of the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration will be the issue of hybrid attacks from Russia and Belarus. For example, agreements with airlines flying to Minsk and a stricter visa policy.

New rules are also envisaged to regulate the long-term stay of refugees from Ukraine. It is noted that migration will be one of the main topics of the two-day summit of EU heads of state and government in Brussels, which will begin on Thursday, October 17.
