Drones Attack Moscow: Strike UAV Explodes Six Kilometers from Kremlin

04.05.2026

Long-range strike drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region on the night of May 4, causing several explosions. One Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) exploded just six kilometers from the Kremlin and three kilometers from the Russian Ministry of Defense building. Local authorities confirmed that the blast damaged a high-rise residential complex.

OSINT analysts from the Exilenova+ channel reported that a heavy FP-1 type strike drone reached the capital.

“The UAV that crashed in Moscow tonight turned out to be a full-fledged strike drone of the FP-1 type. This is the first recorded presence of Ukrainian strike drones in the immediate vicinity of the Kremlin in a very long time,” analysts emphasized.

This specific drone carries a payload of up to 120 kilograms and has an operational range of 1,600 kilometers.

Consequences of the Night Attacks in Moscow

The aerial attack resulted in a direct hit on a residential complex on Mosfilmovskaya Street. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that the explosion destroyed the walls of three rooms on the 36th floor. Emergency services evacuated the residents immediately while debris was scattered across the surrounding area. Furthermore, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that air defense units shot down 117 drones over 14 regions during the same night.

Explosions also occurred in the Rostov and Samara regions. Authorities in Samara closed the airspace after a drone was spotted near a Rosgvardia special forces base. Notably, this strike happened just days before the scheduled “Victory Parade,” which officials had already significantly downsized for 2026. This proximity to the Kremlin highlights the increasing vulnerability of Russia’s strategic centers during the full-scale invasion.

Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that drones strike port and an air defense system in the Leningrad Region.
