Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that he would discuss with his European counterparts the permission for Kyiv to strike deep into Russian territory with Western weapons, Suspilne reports.
He said this before a meeting of European Union foreign ministers to be held in Brussels on August 29.
Here we are mainly talking about the airfields used by Russia to launch its bombers and attack Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. If we get enough missiles, if we are allowed to strike, we will significantly reduce Russia’s ability to damage our critical infrastructure, and we will improve the situation for our forces on the ground, – Kuleba said.
According to the minister, he will also raise the issue of the “gap” between the announcement of military assistance and its actual arrival, so that Ukraine knows what it can expect on the battlefield.
And of course, air defense. We have requested the supply of more Patriot systems. Relevant announcements were made, but again, some Patriot systems have not yet been delivered, so I will urge all partners who have committed themselves to finally deliver them, – Kuleba added.
Earlier, it became known that the EU High Representative for Security Policy Josep Borrell said before the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels that he would raise with the ministers the need to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western weapons.
