Сanada has announced its intention to provide Ukraine with additional economic support in the amount of $2.5 billion. This was stated by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during a conversation with journalists together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Halifax.

According to the head of the Canadian government, the new assistance package will contribute to attracting financing from international financial institutions, in particular the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and will be an important step at the start of the recovery process in Ukraine.
Total amount of assistance
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Canada has become one of Ukraine’s largest partners, providing multilateral assistance of an economic, military, humanitarian and development nature.
Overall, since February 2022, Canada’s total assistance to Ukraine has reached almost CAD 22 billion (approximately $16 billion), of which over CAD 12 billion (approximately $8.7 billion) is direct financial support.
Canada’s support includes:
- financial support to the Government of Ukraine and international programs;
- military assistance and equipment;
- humanitarian assistance to civilians;
- development programs and stabilization assistance.
Military assistance
Canada has been actively supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Military assistance commitments amount to over CAD 4 billion in equipment, technology, ammunition and other support.

This includes the supply of armored vehicles, artillery, anti-tank weapons, ammunition, unmanned systems and other equipment, as well as training of the Ukrainian military.
Humanitarian Assistance
Canada has also provided significant humanitarian assistance to support the civilian population, including medical, housing and social support. This category includes over $350 million CAD in humanitarian assistance and assistance for the development of infrastructure and community programs.
Other Forms of Support

In addition to financial, military and humanitarian assistance, Canada has contributed to supporting displaced persons and refugees from Ukraine, providing shelter, social services and programs for integration into Canadian society. The country has also participated in many international initiatives to support Ukraine, together with NATO and G7 partners.
