The United States will provide Ukraine with humanitarian and energy aid totaling more than $700 million, Babel reports.
This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a press conference in Kyiv on September 11.
In particular, $325 million will be used to support Ukraine’s energy system. He also added that a meeting of the Group of Seven will be held in the near future to discuss assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector.
Another $290 million from the United States will go to humanitarian aid. This means funding programs to provide food, water, housing, healthcare, and education for Ukrainians.
The remaining $102 million will be used for demining activities.
The announcement of the new aid came during the visit of Blinken and his British counterpart David Lammy to Kyiv. The UK has also previously announced a new aid package worth £600 million.
The main purpose of Blinken and Lemmy’s visit is to discuss the lifting of the ban on Ukraine’s strikes with American and British long-range weapons deep into Russia. This topic will be further discussed on September 13, when the US president and the British prime minister are expected to meet.
