Zelenskyy: Deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine will deter Russian aggression

The deployment of a foreign military contingent on the contact line would make the start of a new aggression very dangerous for Russia. The presence of international representatives and military bases serves as a real deterrent because words alone will not stop Vládimír Putin.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this during an interview with CNN.

The Head of State emphasized that any pause in the full-scale war is positive. It helps save the lives of Ukrainian defenders and civilians.

“I believe that any pause in the war is good because that way you don’t lose people,” the President underlined.

He noted that weakening sanctions on Russian oil causes concern. However, the greatest challenge remains the loss of lives. Zelenskyy expressed doubts regarding the effectiveness of mediation in the dialogue with the Kremlin. According to him, in a mediation format, the aggressor does not feel a sense of guilt.

“If it is mediation, he does not feel guilt. This is a big problem. I am not forcing anyone to choose a side. But the point is that if we want to end the war, we must tell Putin that he is wrong. I am not sure that dialogues built on compromise work,” the Ukrainian leader stated.

He urged Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, and Narendra Modi to directly demand that the Russian Federation stop the war through diplomatic means.

Security cooperation: What is known

The President paid special attention to the development of defense technologies and strategic agreements with Middle Eastern countries. Ukraine integrates military equipment into a single system using its own software. It also signed “Drone Deal” documents with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. Joint production lines will allow for the manufacturing of low-cost interceptors to combat kamikaze drones. The cost of a Ukrainian interceptor is approximately $10,000 compared to $130,000 for one Russian “Shahed,” which significantly increases the efficiency of the country’s defense.

Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that the EU allocates over €600 million to support Ukraine.
