The World Bank will allocate $454 million for healthcare

The World Bank will allocate $454 million to Ukraine for healthcare, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

The money will be provided as part of the THRIVE project. The project is aimed at reforming the healthcare system and strengthening its effectiveness in times of war. This is part of a large-scale international support for Ukraine, which also covers education, transportation, energy, agriculture, and other sectors affected by the war.

44% of Ukrainians trust Trump – poll results

As of the end of November 2024, 44.6% of Ukrainians expressed confidence in US President-elect Donald Trump. This is more than in European countries.

This is evidenced by the results of a nationwide survey commissioned by the New Europe Center.

Trust in Trump in Ukraine is higher than in France (16%), the United Kingdom (30%), and Hungary (37%). The research center suggested that the result is due to Ukrainians’ hope for an end to the war with Russia and a more decisive policy of the new administration.

11 dead and 22 wounded: Russians shelled a clinic in Zaporizhzhia

On the afternoon of December 10, the Russian military launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia. A private clinic was destroyed and neighboring buildings were damaged. This was reported by the head of Zaporizhzhia regional military administration Ivan Fedorov.

11 people were killed and 22 were injured. Rescuers are searching for people under the rubble of the clinic. One of the wounded is in serious condition. Two doctors are among the injured.

15th package of sanctions against Russia agreed by EU ambassadors

European Union ambassadors have agreed on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia in response to its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This was reported by the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The new measures include restrictions on Russia’s “shadow fleet” – that is, third-country vessels that help Russia circumvent Western sanctions.

Sanctions have also been imposed on people and organizations from Russia and third countries that contribute to Russia’s military and technological advancement by helping it circumvent export restrictions.

Canadian Parliament approves military aid to Ukraine worth nearly $600 million

On the evening of December 10, the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament approved additional funds in the amount of 21.1 billion Canadian dollars. Of this amount, 764 million will be spent on military assistance to Ukraine.

Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair noted that these funds will be spent on “ammunition, training and other items that Ukrainians desperately need to win”.

The document on additional financing of the Canadian budget also includes 400 million Canadian dollars for financial assistance to Ukraine, which will be allocated from the special account of the International Monetary Fund.

664 crimes against journalists in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, 91 media workers have been killed, 12 of them in the course of their professional journalistic activities. These data as of October 24, 2024, were provided by the Institute of Mass Information (IMI).

In total, in the two years and eight months since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has committed 664 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine.

In particular, in September-October 2024, IMI recorded 27 crimes against media and journalists committed by Russia. These include murders, threats, shelling of journalists and media outlets, cyberattacks, and legal pressure.

$5 billion: Hague court orders Russia to pay Naftogaz for Crimea damages

The Supreme Court has dismissed the cassation appeal of the Russian Federation to overturn the decision of the Hague arbitration. This decision provided for the payment of $5 billion in compensation to Naftogaz for misappropriated assets in the occupied Crimea.

Thus, the Dutch courts have for the second and final time confirmed the legality and validity of the partial award of the arbitral tribunal.

The decision of the Supreme Court strengthens the position of Naftogaz Group in enforcement proceedings to recover Russia’s debt for the illegal seizure of assets in Crimea, – said Roman Chumak, who temporarily acts as the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

$500 million: The US has allocated a new aid package to Ukraine

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced what will be included in the next aid package for Ukraine, which was announced by the White House the day before, according to the Pentagon’s website.
