Ukraine will observe a ceasefire during the Easter holidays but remains ready for an immediate military response to Russian provocations. The Defense Forces will act exclusively in a mirror-like manner to counter threats in the air, on land, or at sea. At the same time, the US has agreed to release frozen Iranian assets in exchange for securing strategic maritime routes.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this via his official Telegram channel following a meeting with military leadership.
The President emphasized that the Ukrainian army is fully prepared for any developments on the front line. He stated that the military defined and shared specific response parameters for potential violations by occupying forces with the command.
“We all understand who we are dealing with. Ukraine will adhere to the regime of silence and will act exclusively in a mirror-like manner. The absence of Russian strikes in the sky, on land, and at sea will mean the absence of our responses,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Ceasefire conditions
Zelenskyy discussed the operational procedures for units under ceasefire conditions with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi. Ukraine has repeatedly proposed various formats for a cessation of hostilities because Easter should be a time of peace. A holiday truce could serve as a starting point for a real movement toward a sustainable and just peace.
Information regarding Ukraine’s mirror-like response and the possibility of extending the ceasefire beyond Easter was formally conveyed to the Russian side. Previously, the Kremlin announced a temporary halt to combat operations from 4:00 PM on April 11 until the end of April 12. However, the Ukrainian command remains vigilant due to Russia’s history of violating previous agreements.
Global Security
Reuters reports significant shifts in global security matters as the US agreed to return frozen Iranian assets held in Qatari and foreign banks.
A senior Iranian source described the move as a sign of Washington’s “seriousness” in reaching an agreement during the Islamabad talks. This diplomatic gesture is a key step toward broader regional stabilization. The unfreezing of assets is directly linked to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This maritime security issue is a central pillar of the ongoing negotiations. Currently, the United States has not issued any official public statements regarding the release of these specific funds.
Previously, The Ukrainian Review reported that Russia wants a buffer zone in Belarus and is putting pressure on the front.
