Ukraine doesn’t need permission to strike Russian targets – US State Department

The US State Department says that Ukraine does not need permission to retaliate against Russian targets, it can use its own weapons.

This was reported by Radio Svoboda.

Ukraine does not need our permission to strike back at Russian targets. They are a sovereign country and can use the weapons they create on their own, and there are a lot of them if you look at the programs they have introduced over the past year. And if you look at the weapons that we have provided them, we have made it clear that they can use them to retaliate against Russian targets across the border that are carrying out attacks, – said US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller during a briefing on September 30.

Thus, according to him, Ukraine has a huge number of means to defend itself, and strikes by Western weapons deep into Russian territory are not “the only magical possibility that will change the course of the conflict”.

We look at all the capabilities, all the tactics, and all the support we provide to Ukraine as a whole, and when we approve any new weapon system or any new tactic, we look at how it will affect the entire battlefield and the entire strategy of Ukraine. And that is what we will continue to do, – Miller added.

It is worth noting that after another hit by the Defense Forces on a storage facility for Russian tactical missiles and guided bombs in the Krasnodar Territory and Tver Region of Russia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had done this using its own capabilities and without the means that “can be provided by partners and that can significantly accelerate the end of this war by destroying Russia’s offensive potential”.

This statement came on the eve of his visit to the United States, where Zelenskyy presented a plan for victory.
