Axios reported on April 28 that Donald Trump is weighing two possible approaches. First, he could strike Iran again. Alternatively, he could keep increasing pressure to force Tehran into talks. According to the report, Trump’s advisers recommend continuing the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, they suggest intensifying economic pressure on Iran. Sources say this option is currently the main one, especially given the deadlock.

Moreover, Axios notes that tensions between Iran and the United States are starting to resemble a “cold war.” This includes financial sanctions, ship seizures, and indirect negotiations. Meanwhile, US officials worry that Washington could get stuck in a prolonged conflict without reaching a deal.

In that case, the United States would have to stay in the region for months. The Strait of Hormuz would remain blocked. As a result, global energy prices would rise. At the same time, a new military conflict could erupt at any moment.

Trump’s options

Sources close to the administration say Donald Trump is choosing between launching a new offensive and increasing pressure. One adviser described him as “frustrated but realistic.” He also stressed that the US president does not plan to back down. At the same time, some voices outside the administration urge Trump to take military action to break the stalemate. However, inside the White House, advisers insist on maintaining the naval blockade and tightening sanctions.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the level of economic pressure on Iran is “unprecedented.” According to him, there is still room for further escalation. Meanwhile, Iran has offered to unblock the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the naval blockade. However, according to the report, Trump does not want to agree. He fears this could delay negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program. The White House says Trump’s red lines on Iran are “perfectly clear.”

Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that during a meeting with Charles III, Donald Trump commented on a shooting at the White House. He also mentioned Vladimir Putin and his intentions.
