The White House announces new aid packages for Ukraine

16.08.2024

The United States will provide additional aid packages to Ukraine in the coming days, Espreso reports.

This was stated by John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House National Security Council, The Guardian reports.

According to him, the United States will provide Kyiv with new aid packages in the coming days, but Kirby did not disclose any details.

The newspaper adds that the White House spokesman announced the additional aid after Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin discussed current Ukrainian operations at the front with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Yesterday, on August 14, Austin and Umerov had a telephone conversation during which they discussed, among other things, “priority assistance in the security sector and ongoing combat operations in Ukraine”.

As a reminder, on July 3, the United States announced a $2.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine, with an additional $150 million in aid. The aid included Patriot and NASAMS missiles, ammunition, missile systems, and more. This was the seventh aid package to Kyiv since US President Joe Biden signed an executive order in April to provide about $61 billion in aid to Ukraine.
