The White House has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 150 million dollars.
This was announced by White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre during a briefing, Babel reports.
The package includes not only missiles for air defense, but also artillery ammunition, new funding for which the Pentagon will buy weapons for Ukraine. The announced amount will be used for the Presidential Decision Authority (PDA) program. This allows the United States to quickly supply weapons to Ukraine directly from its own warehouses.
Here is what was included in the US aid package:
- missiles for the HAWK air defense system;
- ammunition for HIMARS;
- 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition
- 81 mm mortar shells;
- TOW anti-tank guided missiles;
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
- ammunition for small arms;
- demolition equipment and ammunition;
- tactical vehicles for towing and transportation of equipment;
- tactical air navigation systems and auxiliary equipment for aircraft;
- spare parts, other field and auxiliary equipment.
The Pentagon will also use the USAI program to purchase $2.2 billion worth of missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems. The White House plans to accelerate the delivery of these munitions, i.e., to make their delivery a priority. USAI involves ordering equipment from manufacturers.
