The Netherlands did not restrict Ukraine’s use of its F-16s

Ukraine can use Dutch F-16 fighter jets without territorial restrictions, as well as for military purposes in Russia.

This was stated by the Commander of the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, Onno Eichelsheim , in an interview with the local edition of Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), Radiosvoboda reports.

No restrictions were imposed on the use and range of the fighter jets, provided that the laws of war were observed, – he said.

The commander added that his American colleagues partially agree with this assessment:

They have different restrictions on other weapons systems they have provided. But we agree on making sure that Ukraine wins the war.

The Dutch army commander also praised Ukraine’s operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and suggested that the next step should be to use the presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces there “strategically”.

They quickly occupied a large area using new technologies. Thus, they have created a dilemma for Putin. Ukraine really needs to act differently than it has been doing lately, because now the front is static, – the military said.

The first F-16 fighter jets to arrive in Ukraine were shown during the celebrations of the Air Force Day on August 4.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian authorities have been asking the West to provide modern F-16 fighters. In 2023, several countries, with the consent of the United States, decided to provide Kyiv with such aircraft.
