13 dead and 30 wounded: Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia

On the afternoon of January 8, Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia. The attack was directed at the city’s industrial infrastructure. This was reported by the head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov.

The explosions occurred around 15:42. Earlier, Ivan Fedorov wrote about the threat of the enemy using guided aerial bombs. At 16:15, the head of the DMA informed about repeated explosions.

As of 17:30, 13 people were killed in the attack. There were also 30 injured who were hospitalized in local hospitals.

Ukraine received the first modern armored personnel carrier from the German concern Rheinmetall

Ukraine has received the first modern KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle from the German defense concern Rheinmetall.

This was announced in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung by its CEO Armin Papperger.

According to him, the first such vehicle was handed over to Ukraine in December. It was manufactured at the plant in Unterluss.

It is now being tested by the Armed Forces so that a serial order can be placed as soon as possible, – said Armin Papperger.

Norway allocates $14.4 million for demining in Ukraine

On January 7, Norway announced that in 2025 it would provide Ukraine with 164 million Norwegian kroner (approximately $14.4 million) to train and work with sapper dogs to help demine Ukrainian territories.

The funds will be used, in particular, to maintain dogs that help demine the land.

In 2022, Norwegian People’s Aid and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) established a training center for sapper dogs and cynologists in Romny (Sumy region).
