On September 9, the Government of Sweden announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth SEK 4.6 billion (about €400 million).

This was reported by the press service of the Swedish government.

Sweden is entering a new phase of military support for Ukraine through a greater focus on production rather than donation, – the statement said.

This is Sweden’s seventeenth military aid package for Ukraine. It “addresses Ukraine’s highest priority military needs and creates flexibility for the future”. In addition, it includes donations of equipment, direct procurement, equipment packages and financial donations.

The support package also includes military equipment for ground combat worth approximately SEK 500 million. Ukraine has a very high need for anti-aircraft equipment due to Russia’s attacks on civilian and military infrastructure, – the statement said.

The statement also noted that Ukraine has also requested anti-tank weapons and anti-tank mines that will work better against Russian mechanized units. Thus, the package includes several anti-tank rounds, grenade launchers and tank mines.

The package also includes:

  • Protective masks and protective equipment for working/performing tasks in a contaminated environment
  • Ammunition for grenade launchers and small caliber grenade launchers
  • Training materials for recruits in Ukraine
  • Delivery of helmets and winter gear for soldiers on the eve of winter
