Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said that he is against Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance, Suspilne reports.
The politician also reminded that membership must be agreed upon by all countries of the military-political bloc.
This was reported by the Slovak media outlet Pravda, citing Robert Fico’s statement.
As long as I am the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I will lead the deputies on whom I have political influence as the head of the party so that they never agree to Ukraine’s membership in NATO, – he said.
In addition, Fico once again repeated the narrative that Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance could be the basis for World War III.
Fico has previously stated that he wants to restore normal relations with Russia after the war in Ukraine ends. He also noted that his government, which expires in 2027, will “take great care of friendly relations with Ukraine”.
