Russia has violated the “ceasefire” announced by Ukraine, which was set to begin at midnight on May 6, 2026.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this on X.
Details
Sybiha said that since the evening of May 5, Russian forces have launched at least three missiles and 108 drones at Ukraine. The attacks continued overnight and into the morning of May 6.
“Moscow has once again ignored a realistic and fair call to cease hostilities, supported by other states and international organizations.”
He stressed that Moscow’s claims of a “truce” until May 9 lack real substance and amount to political manipulation. Russia continues to ignore calls for a ceasefire backed by the international community, he added.
“This shows that Russia rejects peace, and its fake calls for a ceasefire on May 9 have nothing to do with diplomacy. Putin cares only about military parades, not human lives.”
Ukraine has called for increased international pressure on Russia, including stronger sanctions, isolation, and accountability for war crimes.
Context
Russia previously said it was ready to declare a short-term “ceasefire” until May 9, a date linked to military celebrations. Ukraine, however, has stressed the need for a real and lasting cessation of hostilities.
Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported that Russia systematically recruits teenagers in occupied Ukrainian territories into propaganda activities through the “Yunkor” program under Yunarmiya.
