Russia plans to increase the number of its troops in Ukraine to 690,000 by the end of the year, Babel reports.

In an interview with The Guardian, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia had 100,000 soldiers, and now the number of occupation troops has increased to 520,000 and will be replenished.

Syrskyi also said that the Russians also have a significant advantage in equipment. The ratio is 1:2 or 1:3 in their favor. He cited the number of Russian tanks, which has doubled since 2022 (from 1,700 to 3,500), as well as the number of artillery, which has tripled, and the number of armored personnel carriers, which has increased from 4,500 to 8,900.

The enemy has a significant advantage in forces and means. Therefore, the issue of supply and quality is really at the forefront for us, – added Syrskyi.

In addition, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Ukraine has a plan to de-occupy Crimea. According to him, this plan is a great military secret, but he assured that the intention to de-occupy the peninsula is quite realistic.

We will do everything possible to reach the internationally recognized borders of 1991. We have to win… to free our citizens who are in the occupied territories, who are suffering, – Syrskyi said.

Earlier, Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Russians are increasing the intensity of hostilities, as they realize that time is against them. Currently, the occupation forces have localized successes in Donbas and are advancing slowly. The offensive in the north of Kharkiv region has stalled, and the threat of a new offensive from the north remains.
