On the night of 27 February, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 187 strike drones. The assault targeted the Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The attack killed one person and injured several others, including children.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, the National Police and regional military administrations reported the strikes.

Kharkiv region
In the village of Pidserednie in the Velykoburlutska hromada, a drone strike hit a private house and killed a 67-year-old man. Rescuers recovered his body from the rubble. The attack also injured a 67-year-old woman.
Sumy
In Sumy, Russian forces struck a building in the morning and then launched a second strike after emergency crews arrived. On 26 February, Russian troops shelled 40 settlements across the region, police said. A 14-year-old boy suffered injuries. The shelling damaged private homes, a petrol station, a civilian car and a church fence.
Odesa region
In the Odesa region, drones targeted civilian and port infrastructure. The strikes injured a three-year-old girl and a 44-year-old man. Doctors hospitalized them in moderate condition. The attack damaged port reservoirs, a construction crane, a residential building, cars and a medical facility. It also destroyed a kindergarten building.
Zaporizhzhia region
In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces injured four people, including a teenager. The strikes sparked fires in residential buildings, an outbuilding, a passenger car and a low-pressure gas pipeline. Over the past 24 hours, attacks injured 17 people across the region.
Dnipropetrovsk region
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces attacked two districts around ten times using drones and a guided aerial bomb. Strikes in the Nikopol area damaged a private house. Meanwhile, in the Pokrovska hromada, the attack sparked a fire in a residential building. No casualties were reported.
According to the Air Force, Russian forces launched about 120 Shahed-type drones, as well as Herbera, Italmas and other unmanned aerial vehicles. They launched the drones from Bryansk, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
As of 8:30am, Ukrainian air defences shot down or suppressed 165 UAVs in the north, south and east of the country. Authorities recorded 20 strikes across 14 locations.
Russian forces regularly use strike drones to target Ukrainian regions, including civilian and critical infrastructure. In recent weeks, they have deployed different types of drones and carried out repeated strikes on sites where emergency services operate.
Earlier, The Ukrainian Review reported on a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about Ukraine’s shortage of air defence systems. In an interview, he said that 80% of the country’s territory lacks air defence systems capable of protecting against ballistic missiles.
