As of September 11, there are 137,000 war crimes committed by Russia in the war against Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the United for Justice conference, Hromadske reports.
Zelenskyy emphasized that such a number of crimes means that “there should be no less sentences.” In particular, the head of state recalled the terrorist attack in Olenivka, the massacres of residents of Mariupol and Bucha, and the mockery of Ukrainians in Yahidne.
Probably, there is no country where you have not heard about what the occupier did on our land and against our people. And it should be so that every country knows that the occupier will be held accountable for all this. Because justice has no borders, – Zelenskyy emphasized.
He noted that the world has many conventions, and now more than a hundred countries have ratified the Rome Statute, which should work there.
But recently there was an exception in Mongolia for Putin. And this is not just someone’s responsibility. It is the responsibility of the whole world to stop the degradation of the legal system, to prevent the destruction of those norms that still remain, – the president said.
In addition, Zelenskyy reminded that the G20 summit is due to take place in Brazil in a few months. Ukraine has heard a signal from the Brazilian authorities about plans to invite the Russian leader. If this happens, the president noted, it will mean another disregard for the Rome Statute.
