Russian President Vladimir Putin has personally promised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release all Indians who have signed a contract with the Defense Ministry from the Russian army.

At a private dinner in Moscow, Modi raised the issue of Indians in the Russian army and their participation in the war against Ukraine. He arrived there on a two-day visit on July 8. TV sources say that Moscow has agreed not only to dismiss Indians from the army, but also to facilitate their return to their homeland.
According to NDTV, about two dozen Indian citizens have participated or are participating in the war against Ukraine. At least two have already been killed. The TV company notes that the Indians were forced to fight by deception – they were promised high-paying jobs, but ended up signing bondage contracts.
According to Bloomberg, the Russian Federation has forced thousands of migrants and foreign students to fight against Ukraine by threatening to not extend their visas. Some of them are being used as an additional force for the offensive in the Kharkiv region.
In addition, there are now established facts of recruitment of citizens of Nepal, as well as India, Syria, Serbia, and Somalia into the Russian army. Also, according to the BBC, Russia recruited illegal migrants from the Finnish border who were trying to get to the EU through Russia. As for the citizens of Nepal and India, some of them are already in captivity or dead. There are already videos on social media of Africans in the Russian army in Ukraine.
