President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the day of the massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine, reports Hromadske.
Zelenskyy wrote about this in X.
A Russian missile hit Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, targeting young cancer patients. Many were buried under the rubble. It is a huge disappointment and a crushing blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world’s largest democracy hugging the world’s bloodiest criminal in Moscow on a day like this, – Zelenskyy wrote.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Russia on the evening of July 8 and toured Putin’s residence near Moscow ahead of official talks in the Kremlin scheduled for July 9.
During the meeting, Putin hugged the Indian leader and greeted him as “any friend”, Kremlin media quoted him as saying.
It was Modi’s first visit to Russia in 5 years. According to media reports, he traveled to the Kremlin to dispel speculation about New Delhi’s rapprochement with Washington and to reduce the influence of China, which has recently been gravitating toward Russia.
Massive shelling of Ukraine
On the morning of July 8, Russian troops launched missile attacks on Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and a number of other Ukrainian cities. In total, at least 38 people were killed and more than 140 wounded – the data is constantly being updated as search operations continue at the sites of the attacks in Kyiv.
