This topic is the hottest topic in the world’s political information space right now. The US administration is only heating up interest, and they are completely sure that such a summit will still happen in the coming month. But it seems that the Kremlin thinks differently.
As Lavrov stated, the meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy was not discussed in Alaska. The topic was “raised later.”
Moreover, the Russian dictator himself told Trump in a telephone conversation that Moscow was ready to continue direct negotiations with Kyiv in Istanbul.
The Foreign Ministry of the aggressor country has already made it clear to everyone that Russia simply wants to increase the level of delegations in order to discuss “issues that need to be brought to the attention of Putin and Zelenskyy.”
Finnish President Stubb, in turn, stated that the war will last at least until the fall, and Zelenskyy’s meeting with Putin is unlikely.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Putin is simply afraid of meeting with the President of Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly stated that Zelenskyy is illegitimate, and therefore, if Putin does come to such an imaginary summit, it will only strengthen Zelenskyy’s power and dispel all the propaganda that he has been pouring into the ears of the Russians.
That is why the press release of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry states that Zelenskyy is ready to discuss the issue of territories along the current front line. And exclusively during a personal meeting with Putin.
Ukraine will not surrender its territories, but it is logical that stopping at the current front line, and not rushing to the 1991 borders, is already a big concession for negotiations on the part of our country.
In the opinion of our team, such a meeting will be a full-fledged victory for Zelenskyy, but at the same time we clearly understand that there will be no breakthrough, the war will continue, because the Russian death machine will not stop there.
If we look at the truth, the Russian aggression has not achieved any of its goals: the Armed Forces of Ukraine have become stronger, many countries are investing in the Ukrainian defense industry, NATO borders with Russia have only increased due to two new countries, Trump and Europe clearly speak in favor of true and strong security guarantees for Ukraine, “demilitarization” has completely failed.
Conclusion
In our opinion, there is only a 20% chance that Putin and Zelenskyy will meet in the next few weeks. The Kremlin has already given up and is simply trying to mislead Trump and delay sanctions.
Russia now has an existential threat on its border in the form of Ukraine, and this war will not be resolved by simple negotiations. Of course, there may be a break and freeze for several months or years, but then only the first stage of the war will end, and everyone will have time to prepare for the second stage…
