Last week in New York (USA), on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held intensive talks with China and Brazil to initiate a peace summit between Ukraine and Russia, Suspilne reports.
As noted in Die Weltwoche, Orbán set out to organize a “peace summit” between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin through international partners.
On the sidelines of last week’s UN meeting, the Hungarian prime minister held intensive discussions with China and Brazil on this issue.
According to the publication, the EU leadership has already been irritated by Orbán’s trips before the summer vacation. He was accused of abuse of office.
He is not negotiating on behalf of the EU. On the other hand, Orbán, who will be president of the EU Council for a few more months, believes that he is conducting research, not negotiations, – Die Weltwoche wrote.
In total, fifteen “friends of peace” countries support Orbán’s plans. The venue for the peace summit is currently being discussed. In addition to Hungary, China, and Brazil, France and Switzerland will also participate.
