Ukraine has taken note of the decision of the authorities of the Republic of Niger to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, Radiosvoboda reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notes that the accusations against Ukraine “do not stand up to any criticism, are groundless and untrue.”
Ukraine strongly rejects any accusations against it of allegedly supporting international terrorism, violating the UN Charter and international law, – the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Niger’s decision to break off diplomatic relations with Kyiv was called “a gesture of solidarity with those who chose to move closer to the terrorist state of Russia”. In addition, as noted, the Nigerian authorities did not investigate the incident in Mali and did not provide any evidence regarding the reasons for such a step.
We assume that such a decision is a gesture of “solidarity” with those who have chosen to get closer to the terrorist state, Russia, which has been waging an unprovoked full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine for more than two years, using large-scale terror, committing numerous war crimes against the Ukrainian people, destabilizing the international security and political situation, spreading chaos and confrontation in all parts of the world, including the African continent, – the statement reads.
Ukraine is sincerely determined to continue building mutually beneficial relations with all African states on the basis of equality, non-interference in internal affairs, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Foreign Ministry emphasizes.
On August 6, the African country of Niger announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine due to statements by officials allegedly indicating Ukraine’s support for groups involved in hostilities in neighboring Mali.
