Latvia, Lithuania, and Croatia to provide new military aid packages to Ukraine

During their visit to Ukraine on September 11, the leaders of three countries announced new military aid packages for Ukraine. These are Lithuania, Latvia and Croatia, Babel reports.

Latvia’s assistance

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa said the aid would include armored personnel carriers. No details on other equipment or the budget of the military package were disclosed.

Shmygal also noted that Latvia plans to provide Ukraine with solar panels for hospitals. The country is also providing energy equipment.

During the meeting, the Latvian prime minister and the Ukrainian prime minister discussed expanding cooperation in all areas related to strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They also discussed cooperation between the defense companies of the two countries.

Lithuania’s assistance

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Lithuania would provide €10 million to finance Ukraine’s “long-range capabilities”, including the Palianytsia drone missile. Lithuania will continue to assist Ukraine at the level of 0.25% of the country’s GDP annually.

Croatia’s assistance

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced the 11th military aid package during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the local media outlet hkv.hr, it is about €5 million for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Croatian prime minister wrote that the country has already allocated €300 million in aid to Ukraine.

The politicians discussed humanitarian demining of Ukrainian territories. Special attention was paid to Ukraine’s postwar recovery and the rebuilding of its energy infrastructure.
