On October 15, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei condemned the new EU and UK sanctions and denied providing ballistic missiles to Russia, Suspilne reports.
According to Reuters, last month, the United States, citing intelligence shared with its allies, said that Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran.
But Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman denied this information.
Some European countries and the United Kingdom, unfortunately, are claiming without evidence that Iran has militarily intervened in this conflict, which is completely refuted, – Esmail Baghaei said, referring to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Baghaei condemned the latest sanctions, saying that their imposition by the EU and the UK contradicts international law. The sanctions include an asset freeze and a ban on entry to the EU.
On Monday, October 14, the European Union agreed to impose sanctions on seven individuals and seven organizations, including Iran Air, for their connection to Iran’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia. The lists also include Saha Airlines and Mahan Air, as well as Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Seyyed Hamzeh Ghalandari.
At the same time, the United Kingdom added nine new items to its sanctions regime against Iran.
