Germany will provide an additional 100 million euros in aid to Ukraine this winter, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced during a visit to Moldova on Tuesday, September 17, Suspilne reports.
According to Reuters, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stressed before the ministerial conference in Chisinau that Russia is once again planning a “winter war to make life as horrible as possible for people in Ukraine”.
Currently, the Ukrainian power system is still recovering from nine massive Russian attacks, with a power shortage and emergency and scheduled repairs continuing at power facilities.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that if there was no further shelling of energy facilities, Ukraine could get through the winter without blackouts. At the same time, according to intelligence reports, Russia is preparing further massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy system.
On September 10, the Prime Minister told reporters that this winter would be no less difficult than the previous ones. Perhaps even the most difficult. According to him, it is difficult to predict how many hours Ukrainians will be without electricity in the winter and whether there will be any blackouts at all.
