15.07.2024

In late June and early July, Germany almost secretly sent a large package of military aid to Kyiv. Among other things, it includes tanks, armored personnel carriers, HIMARS systems and IRIS-T air defense systems, Suspilne informs.

This was reported by the German publication Merkur.

According to the publication, the aid package includes 39 tanks provided by the German defense industry and the Bundeswehr.

In addition, last week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received ten more Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks and twenty more Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany. This brings the total number of Marders supplied by Germany to 120. At the same time, the number of Leopards that have been modified has increased to 50.

In addition to ammunition for Leopard 1 and Marder, Ukraine also received two additional

Biber bridge-laying tanks, two additional Dachs engineering tanks, two evacuation tanks and four additional Wisent 1 demining tanks.

Germany also delivered an additional IRIS-T SLM air defense system (previously three) and another IRIS-T SLS air defense system (previously one) to protect critical infrastructure and cities from insidious Russian air attacks.

Three HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems have also been added to the list of weapons provided. The Bundeswehr does not have HIMARS in service, but has previously provided Ukraine with four technically very similar multiple launch rocket systems.

The previous aid package was provided by Germany on June 14. It included 10 Leopard 1A1 tanks and ammunition, as well as IRIS-T air defense systems, 3 HIMARS systems, 20 Marder tracked infantry vehicles, etc.
