Last week, Ukraine received a medium-range IRIS-T SLM air defense missile system and a short-range IRIS-T SLS from Germany, Espreso reports.
This was stated by Major General Christian Freuding, Head of the Special Headquarters for Assistance to Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, in an interview with RND.
Only last week we delivered two Iris-T SLM and SLS anti-aircraft systems. And by the end of this year, we will deliver two more air defense systems, – he said.
We are talking about air defense systems that Ukraine needs to protect critical infrastructure and citizens from attacks by the Russian occupiers.
Christian Freuding also emphasized that Berlin is currently delivering high-level military equipment and ammunition to the Ukrainian military and will continue to support it.
The German major general added that the Ukrainian military receives light armored vehicles and main battle tanks, as well as a large amount of artillery ammunition from Germany. According to him, this assistance is quite significant.
The federal government remains united in its support for Ukraine, – the official summarized.
It is worth reminding that Germany has ordered 17 more IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine in addition to the seven already delivered. Four of them will be delivered by the end of this year, and the rest – next year.
