Germany announces new military aid package for Ukraine

The German government has announced the transfer of another military aid package to Ukraine, which includes a significant amount of armored vehicles and air defense equipment, Babel reports.

Here is what is being transferred:

  • 10 Leopard 1A1 tanks and ammunition;
  • 20 Marder infantry tracked vehicles and ammunition;
  • IRIS-T SLM medium-range surface-to-air missile system;
  • IRIS-T SLS short-range surface-to-air missile system;
  • 3 HIMARS rocket artillery systems;
  • 2 armored engineering vehicles Dachs;
  • Bergepanzer 2 armored repair and recovery vehicle and spare parts;
  • 4 Wisent 1 demining vehicles with spare parts;
  • 2 BEAVER bridge pavers with spare parts;
  • 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros fuel trucks;
  • 4 anti-drone sensors and jammers;
  • 3 protection systems for helicopters AMPS;
  • rescue boats;
  • 21,000 rounds of 155 mm ammunition, 128 smoke/illumination shells of the same caliber;
  • explosive ordnance disposal equipment;
  • 100 Haenel CR308 rifles, 85 Haenel HLR338 sniper rifles, 100 Haenel MK556 assault rifles;
  • 4 million rounds of ammunition for small arms;
  • 100 night vision devices.

On June 11, 2024, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that in the coming weeks and months, Germany would transfer the third Patriot air defense system, IRIS-T and Gepard systems, as well as missiles and ammunition to Ukraine.

The Patriot system and Gepard anti-aircraft systems are still being prepared for delivery. After Ukraine receives the third Patriot system from Germany, Germany will not be able to transfer such air defense systems, as stated by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
