France to supply Ukraine with Mirage 2000 aircraft in early 2025 – Defense Minister

08.10.2024

France will supply Ukraine with Mirage 2000 fighters in the first quarter of 2025 (January-March). The aircraft will be equipped with the latest surface-to-air systems and electronic warfare protection, Suspilne reports.

This was announced on the social network X by French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.

Mirage 2000 is on its way to Ukraine: delivery is still scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. In Cazaux, in the Gironde, they will be equipped with new technology: air-to-ground combat and electronic warfare protection. The training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics is ongoing, – the minister said in a statement.

At the same time, Lecornu did not specify the number of aircraft in question.

It should be noted that in September 2024, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov informed that Kyiv was discussing with partners the possibility of receiving Swedish Saab JAS-39 Gripen fighters, German-British Eurofighter Typhoon, and was also expecting to receive French-made Mirage 2000.

Currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have F-16 fighters in service and are performing combat missions.
